A pictorial from a recent flight over Northwest Georgia and Northeast Alabama This is The House O' Dreams. built by Berry College students for Martha Berry as a birthday gift. This retreat sits atop Lavender Mountain in Floyd County, Georgia. The tower gives a grand panoramic view of the surrounding valleys, but becomes part of the view when seen from the seat of a plane. This is about as close as I'd want to photograph this site as I wouldn't want to disturb the level of privacy that this homeowner obviously wishes to secure. When making an approach into Huntsville, it is hard not to notice the rocket garden of the U.S. Space and Rocket Center. So many powerful rockets that carried human flight far beyond the limits of our altitude in this picture. The most dominating sight in the Huntsville skyline is the scale replica of the Saturn V rocket, the most powerful propulsion engine to be used by man. This is the rocket that sent to Apollo astronauts on their missions to the moon. In addition to its mission, this model also serves as a unique landmark. Only Huntsville could offer this sight. From roughly a mile above the city of Ft. Payne one is offered a great view of Weiss Lake. Branded as "The Crappie Capital of the World," Weiss offers fantastic fishing as well as some decent skiing. Formed by the dam on the Coosa River nears Leesburg, Weiss forms the only division between Centre and Cedar Bluff. With the real estate and tourism draw, Lake Weiss is a economic force in the state.
