Curator Sam Burnham Game to Watch: North Carolina vs. South Carolina This game could prove to be more interesting than the billing it is getting. Mack Brown has returned to Chapel Hill to lead a program that could prove to be a dangerous foe this season. The most interesting factor is that Brown will be coaching against his former Texas defensive coordinator, Will Muschamp.
I stand behind my assertion that Muschamp is as good of a defensive coordinator as you’ll find anywhere but his disposition and approach hinder his ability to be a successful head coach. This game is an opportunity to evaluate that assertion. With Muschamp faced off against his coaching mentor, I think Mack Brown may turn the upset on this one.
Coach Drew Burnham Game to Watch: Oregon @ Auburn
New Auburn Offensive Coordinator Kenny Dillingham will have his feet thrown to the fire in his first contest as this is no typical opening weekend walk in the park. The winner of this game will likely have to score points in bunches to do it. With a new OC and a new young man behind center, I am highly interested to see how fast this new Auburn offense has come together. On the other end Oregon returns Justin Herbert who had 2 solid campaigns before exploding onto the scene last season throwing for over 3,100 yards and nearly 30 TD’s. He is a real deal playmaker and leader. Oregon will have the upper hand with experience, but can it match the unforgiving environment they’ll walk into at Jordan-Hare Saturday night? Should be plenty of fireworks.
