SEC - AUBURN VS. UGA There are a lot of folks talking about revenge in this game. I don't think that is the story here. My mind is going back to 2002 when former Auburn coach Pat Dye said that Georgia wasn't man enough to beat Alabama. They proved him wrong back then. But in this game the question is, "is Georgia man enough to beat Auburn?" This is going to be a brutal, physical match up. Auburn is going to have to overcome some key injuries. But if Georgia proves to be man enough, I'm not sure that even Kerryon Johnson can save the Tigers. Will revenge bring on the man in the Dawgs? Get ready to see some Grown Man Football in Atlanta. Winner: Dawgs on Top
ACC - CLEMSON VS. MIAMI This is going to be one heck of a football game. It is a shame that one of them has to lose as these are both playoff caliber teams. Clemson is solid and they have been all year. Miami is one of the fastest and most athletic teams in the country. Stick these two in a neutral site and wait for the fireworks. But I think we are going to see one bit of separation and that is Miami's speed. The team that humiliated Notre Dame 41-8 will be back. They've had their wake up call with Pitt and now they are ready for their close up. These guys understand the tradition of The U and they know what is expected of them. This is not to take anything away from a very talented Clemson team who will make this a fight for four quarters. I expect an instant classic. But I'm fairly certain the Hurricanes are ready for the outcome. Winner: Get Out The Chain
BIG 10, 11, 12...WHATEVER - OHIO STATE VS WISCONSIN I'm sitting here looking at this match up and I feel like I'm sitting across from the Dread Pirate Roberts and eyeing two glasses of wine trying to choose which one isn't tainted with Iocaine powder. The Hawkeyes hung 55 on the Buckeyes so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of you. But as soon as I pick Wisconsin they're gonna choke so I clearly not choose the wine in front of me.
Seriously though, The B1G is killing me. I hate to overlook Wisconsin because they do have a 0 in the L column. The Buckeyes are just not a playoff caliber team. I'm not sure Wisconsin has been truly tested in that conference. I really think if the Badgers win they are in but if the Buckeyes win they get Bama in through the back door. But, it's time to choose a glass and I'm going to go with the least dangerous one to me. Winner: Not the Buckeyes.
BIG 12...approximately - OKLAHOMA VS. TCU Let me start by saying that the Frogs have a good football team and my phone's autocorrect feature recognizes the word "Chokelahoma." So in the back of my mind I have the Frogs squeaking this one out. I'm sitting here expecting the Sooners to choke...it's what they do. And I think Mayfield is trash - Gran would call him "common." But I have to pick this one with my brain and not my emotions. I gotta weigh the evidence and make an educated guess. So here we go, as bad as I hate it, this is how it ends. Winner: Their Mascot is Literally a Bandwagon
THE WINNERS OF THESE 4 GAMES ARE MY PLAYOFF FINAL 4 PREDICTION.
1. GEORGIA 2. MIAMI 3. WISCONSIN 4. OKLAHOMA
Coach Drew Burnham
SEC- AUBURN VS. UGA Beating a team twice in a single season is one of the most difficult things in sports. Beating a team twice in a month is almost impossible. UGA was embarrassed on the Plains only a few short weeks ago. Every athlete dreams of a 2nd chance and the Dawgs are going to get it. This is their chance to complete their journey to the playoff and get their revenge for their only loss of the season. Just as a kicker, the game is being played in their back yard. With that said, no team in America has had a more impressive November than the Tigers and I think they’re firing on all cylinders. If anyone can beat an elite team twice in a month, it’s them. Winner: WAR EAGLE
ACC- CLEMSON VS. MIAMI Even though I think it’s why the Curator invited me to join this segment, I have made conscious efforts not to dive too overly deep into x’s and o’s in my pieces. I’m throwing that out the window here. Miami is overwhelmingly athletic in their defensive back end (there’s a reason they lead the nation in turnovers gained). That athleticism gives them the ability to play 6-7 man boxes and trust their playmakers in man coverage. Load the box, stop the run and dare Clemson to throw it. Not many teams Fighting Dabo’s have played this year have been gifted enough to do that. That might be because there aren’t too many of them in the country. Miami however, is one of them. Coach Richt will have The U ready to roll and while I expect an exceptional game, I believe that will be the deciding factor. Winner: THE U
BIG 10 OR SO – OHIO STATE VS. WISCONSIN Well, well, well if it isn’t the ole Badgers. I wish I could think of someone who had been on the Badger Bandwagon, jumping around, for the duration of this season, it’s just not coming to me right now. If you know of anyone that fits the description, please feel free to comment.
The Badgers run the ball extremely well and play some of the best defense in the country. Saturday that defense is playing against a QB who is fresh off a minor knee procedure following a freak accident with a…Sideline camera man? Oh boy. A QB with one leg against one of the best defenses there is. A Wisconsin offense who has the ability to string together double-digit play drives significantly limiting the amount of time that one legged quarterbacks can have the ball. That’s not a match made in Buckeye heaven. I just think the Badgers are too sturdy. Winner: ON WISCONSIN!
BIG WE CAN COUNT TO 12 – OKLAHOMA VS. TCU I’d like to send my most sincere apologies to Alabama fans across this segment. Oklahoma isn’t going to let you in. Patty cake Patty cake, Baker is the man. The Oklahoma offense is well prepared for a likely track meet with the Frogs. I think this is the most explosive game of the week, but I just think that Baker has too much Boz in him. That guy is a gamer. No matter the situation, he finds a way to rise to the occasion. He and the Oklahoma offense will shoot it out and outlast TCU. Winner: BOOMER SOONER
THE WINNERS OF THESE 4 GAMES ARE MY PLAYOFF FINAL 4 PREDICTION IN THAT ORDER.
