Looking at the Takeaways from College Football Action in Week Six
Between Curator & Coach, 5 playoff teams emerged - Alabama, Clemson, Washington, and TCU. All five won on Saturday. Georgia and Washington arguably were the most impressive. Georgia turned the Vandy game into a glorified practice and Washington blew away Cal.
Chris Petersen mentioned early on Saturday that one drawback to the West Coast is getting viewership for those ;ate night games. I'd say that Petersen might get more viewership for those late games if he wasn't beating his opponent 24-0 at the half. It's hard to sit up after midnight just to watch a dead horse be repeatedly pummeled.
For the second week in a row, The Curator's upset pick came through. A very impressive effort in Raleigh lifted the Wolfpack over Louisville on Thursday night. NC State sits at 5-1, 3-0 in the ACC, with five wins in a row. That is good enough to be tied with Clemson for first place in the Atlantic Division.Challenges lie ahead at Notre Dame and hosting Clemson in consecutive weeks. We'll see how they handle those.
Miami @ Florida State:
Mark Richt got exactly what he needed out of his Miami team in Tallahassee - enough. It wasn't really flashy. No one is going to win a Heisman over it. But the Hurricanes did what they had to when they had to and put away FSU for the first time in 7 years. Despite a good showing by the Seminole defense, Miami made the most of a wild 4th Quarter, scoring with only 6 seconds remaining to seal the win. The Hurricanes are off to a 4-0 start and share the Coastal Division lead with Virginia. The Seminoles have to regroup quickly. At 1-3 with some meat left on the schedule, bowl eligibility may be in question.
Michigan State @ Michigan:
Much like the Hurricanes, Mark Dantonio's bunch got it done. The rain made things hard on both sides but Sparty put a solid defense on the field and outlasted the favored Wolverines. The win puts them in the heat of the Eastern Division race.
8-2 again this week on the game picks and some rivalry match ups coming up in Week Seven. This season is starting to get interesting. Check back in for Curator and Coach later this week!
